Linear programming is a method used to correlate data in a mathematical way in order to produce an outcome that will provide an optimal decision. These outcomes that are produced include increasing profits, lowering cost, and transportation issues. Many companies are now using linear programming extensively to decide how to allocate assets due the increase of size and speed of computers which are used to solve complex problems, taking some of the guesswork out of the allocation of assets. Companies understand that suppliers cannot indefinitely supply needed raw materials without sustainable supply chain management. By managing and partnering with suppliers to reduce adverse environmental impacts and to enable responsible supplier growth and raise standards.
