Question 4. 4. TCO D: Due to technology, HRM's role has changed dramatically from that of support to strategic partner. Describe how business process re-engineering (BPR) and outsourcing “specifically” impact that changing role. Analyze how these process changes resulted in HRM as a strategic partner. Give an example and explain. (Points : 30)       BPR and outsourcing both are important assets to HRM and have dramatically changed over the years. Business processes which once handled in-house are now being replaced through outsourcing specific tasks. One example could be that HRM in the past had to hire a design artist, network administrator and web designer to work, update and post changes to the corporate website. Today these processes can be outsourced for significant savings. While the network administrator still might be needed they can now focus on internal issues instead of safeguarding against attack from the external. The Web Designer could be part of the outsourced package leaving important training to another company allowing business to focus on current business needs instead of wasting their time with the web design, hosting, network security ect. BPR are tools used to generate reports, update and safeguard important employee and company information. These tools help to streamline business processes and can even be adapted to allow employees to check on their benefits or update information about themselves without having to check in with human resources. This is ideal as it can save time that would otherwise bog down the Human Resource department freeing up valuable time to work more strategically within the business and its partners.These process changes helped HRM become a strategic partner because now they can generate reports, analyze the information and make recommendations before its too late, for instance HR can run a report that forecasts how many employees will retire in the next 5 years and from which departments, they could use this...
