Community Organizations

A social initiative is a plan derived from a corporation, community program, or public faculties that supports a society driven by the goal of the common good of its citizens.

Team B had a meeting to discuss various organizations and the factors of social initiatives which foster social responsibilities. These are organizations provide that provide for citizens with or without special needs, communities, and ultimately this nation.

Team B broadened the aspect of community organizational structures with three different organizational outlooks and the social responsibilities that are differed, but also ones that are shared.

Meals on Wheels

Having ethics involved does not make an organization a charity. There is a trust factor instilled by the citizens that ethics and responsibility are based foundation in the charity’s roots.

Meals-on-Wheels, founded in 1960 by a group of United Methodist women that wanted to meet needs of San Diego’s elderly population. Those needs consisted of a drop-in senior center, home visitations, and a senior club. It has evolved into a two a day meal service that also stresses the importance of checking in on elderly and also spending time with them in their residences. Meals-on-Wheels’ involvement and responsibility to the community is ensuring that no senior person has to go without food or any contact during the day. They are a non-profit organization that depends on volunteers to distribute the meals on a daily basis.

Social Responsibility

The factors that have influenced the social responsibility strategies of Meals-on-Wheels were needs of the senior population. Since most of the seniors live alone, the organization wanted to ensure they could serve multiple purposes with their program.
