Akamai’s Edge Computing

A) According to the website akamai.com, “Akamai EdgeComputing enables enterprises to deliver J2EE Web applications that scale on demand and perform faster and more reliably worldwide, while reducing on their own IT infrastructures and simplifying support (Akamai.com).” Basically, Edge works by taking all of the data being used and pushed away from the centralized points of the network. It used to be very expensive thus only being marketed and made available to large corporations. Now, with the advancement of technology, Akamai Edge Computing can be offered to small and medium sized businesses. Some of the advantages of Edge computing are: decreases the amount of data that needs to be moved which improves quality, removes risks of high traffic, and security increases.
