Introduction

Delius et al (2000, 113) provides a definition or explanation of ethics derived from the Greek word ethos, meaning custom (character), a moral philosophy. Ethics investigates the precondition and the effects of human actions. According to Andrew Crane, "Business ethics is the study of business situations, activities, and decisions where issues of right and wrong are addressed." And Raymond C. Baumhart, describes Business Ethics as "The ethics of business is the ethics of responsibility. The business man must promise that he will not harm knowingly." Ethical behaviour is therefore the product of a complex combination of influences. At the core is the individual decision maker with a unique combination of personality characteristics and values as well as personal experience in being rewarded or reinforced for certain behaviour.

I, Loide Amadhila am an employee of the Namibia Development Corporation. I have been employed by the Corporation for 5 years now as an Accounting Officer. I perform accounting, financial and administration tasks for the Sites and Premises Development Programme and all Capital Projects and Special Funds held on behalf of Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development.

The Namibia Development Corporation has been established in terms of the Namibia Development Corporation Act (Act No. 18 of 1993). The objects of the Corporation are to promote, develop and support all sectors of the Namibian economy for sustained economic growth and the economic empowerment of its people in conformity with the development strategies and policies of the Government of the Republic of Namibia. The affairs of the Corporation are managed and controlled by a board of directors which are vested with the authority, subject to the Act, to exercise the powers and perform the duties conferred or imposed on the Corporation by the Act.
