I. Introduction

Accordingly, the elections conducted last May spurred the GDP growth by 7.8 percent. Officials are reported to have spent approximately P584 billion which went into construction and infrastructure which ultimately contributed to the economic growth of the country (Bacani, 2013). A Philippine Economic Update was conducted by the World Bank which noted that private consumption and government spending during election period would greatly contribute to the Q1 GDP Growth of the nation (World Bank, 2013)

An article in The LaSallian newspaper stated that the elections held last May was comprised of 28 million voters in the range of 18-25 years of age. This is roughly more than half of the voting population which illustrates that majority of students currently enrolled in DLSU are of legal age. This sparks an opportunity to take part in electing government officials who will manage and run the nation as well as economic progress (Razon, 2013).
