Discovery of a Time Capsule

Time, what is it? It’s a measurement of something we really can’t see. We can see what time does to ourselves like getting old, and objects rusting and cracking, but this is also a combination of other stuff like the sun. Time itself is just a measurement of our perspective within our universe. But with time we are able to look back to a certain point and learn from it. Having the measurement of time allows us to understand how we change and why. I’m an archaeologist in the year 2325 and I just found a time capsule from the 1960’s. My colleagues and I unearth it and we are excited by what we found in the time capsule. We found a total of five items in the capsule representing the time era of the 1960’s. I will described each of the five items and explain why I think these items are important in helping us understand the era of the 1960’s.

This first item in the time capsule is a video of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr “I Have a Dream” speech. It’s is a video of Dr. King giving a speech to more than 250,000 people about civil rights for African Americans. The speech was delivered on August 28 1963 in Washington DC at the Lincoln Memorial to end racism in the United States. The video shows thousands of people gathering at the Lincoln Memorial monument to hear Dr. King’s speech. The video is in low quality black and white video and low quality audio but it is still clear enough to understand it and its purpose. The video was shot in film but has been reserved and transfer over to a DVD and place in the time capsule. This video found in the capsule is important in defining this era because it tells of how people or groups where treated differently because of color. It demonstrated that freedom during that time was not a right not even a privilege to some, as Dr. King Stated.
