I have reviewed numerous articles online which report that Victoria’s Secret utilizes a very successful social media based marketing strategy. Additionally, these articles state that as a result of social media marketing Victoria’s Secret has established a very loyal following of customers ranging from teenagers to mature adults. In other words, these articles clearly illustrate that Victoria’s Secret knows how to effectively use social media marketing techniques in order to recruit and maintain a diverse and wide range of satisfied customers so as to generate enormous sales volumes and profits. VS has succeeded in recruiting a dynamic group of customers who will advocate for the brand because of the customer satisfaction they experience as a result of wearing alluring lingerie, e.g. increased self-confidence, admiration from their significant others, just to name a few. Also, women tend to compare themselves with VS models as they become more motivated to buy the products in order to look like a VS model. This concept can be referred to as ideal self-image and ideal social self-image. In addition,VS’s sales agendas coincide with Drucker’s view of marketing vs. selling that involves the products being so enticing and appealing that they fly off the shelves with little or no help from salespeople.VS also practices a blue ocean strategy as the company has captured several loyal market segments which may only shop for their lingerie at VS, given the high quality and appeal of the products offered. It is also important to mention that VS’s brand personality can be described as very stimulating to the senses as the advertisements feature the most beautiful and sensational models on the planet (VS advertisements appeal to visualizers who are fascinated by visual images as opposed to verbalizers who prefer the written word).
