HRIS Proposal to Castle’s Family Restaurant

INTRODUCTION:

A California based restaurant is seeking on how to improve its payroll and human resources functions. Castle’s Family Restaurant has almost 300 employees with 40% full time and 60% part-time. All eight restaurants are located in Northern California, has one HR Manager, who manages both payroll and human resources functions; and none of the eight restaurants. HR Manager takes care of payroll & HR related functions by travelling to eight locations every week.

BUSINESS ASSESSMENT:

Upon reading the brief history of Castle’s Family Restaurant, I am proposing to implement its Payroll and Human Resources functions to be automated. Therefore, I recommend an HRIS to handle the payroll & human resources functions. The system to be in place will be a technology that would facilitate an easy adoption by managers and employees involved, with minimum training, if possible. The main functions are all situated at the Corporate Office. Since all eight restaurants are located in the Northern California region, and upon determining the demographic locations of each restaurant from each other, I would like to propose to group the restaurants into three based on their locations. The Corporate Office is located in the San Jose, California, which is almost at the midst of all the eight restaurants, and two restaurants are located within 30 miles radius. All of the six restaurants are well proportionately located 40 miles radius from each other.

PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED: Following are problems I believed are to be encountered while on non-automated Payroll & human resources functions:

a) Castle’s Family Restaurant business has almost (+/-) 300 employees. Having only one person handling both Payroll & HR functions is overwhelming present overwhelming to the HR Manager....
