The name comes from the known process of taking a photographic portrait typically taken after a person is arrested. Mug was actually an English slang term dating to the 18th century meaning face. This is a play on words with its homonym pertaining to a large cup with a handle. This concept is the foundation of the central theme of the café.

The main attraction which distinguishes it apart from the usual café experience is that you can actually have your mug shot taken as you order your refreshments. This image will also be used in the café’s website’s Most Wanted list. As your order is served, your name or membership number is called; and your image against a mug shot background of black lines is shown on the displays strategically located within the café which emanates an ambience of being in a sophisticated enforcement office.

This relaxing ambiance composed of ambient lights and soothing music allows the customer to focus on working on that business proposal due this afternoon, chat socially with friends, or even browse social media uninterrupted through the excellent wireless internet connection or cozy up in a quiet corner with a good book while sipping that marvelous cup of concoction and nipping on the sumptuous baked goodies.
