Subject: The Homeless Shelter Program

The mission of Hilton Hotel & Resorts, headquartered in Cisco, Texas, is “to meet the needs of tomorrow’s global travelers and shape experiences in which every guest feels cared for, valued, and respected.” (Beverly, 2008) Hilton offers travellers a place to stay where they feel a home away from home. This is how Hilton shows its responsibility to the consumers. However, there are many homeless people in the U.S. who had never had a place to live daily. It is important to improve homeless people’s life qualities because we evaluate the society as a whole. In addition, community organizations are an indispensable part of our society; it will be excellent if more volunteers join the organizations to help the community. In my program, Hilton can reach both goals at low cost. It will do this by first, asking every customer to donate up to a dollar towards building homeless shelters; second, asking nearby community organizations to help the homeless find jobs. To be one of the leader hotels in the world, corporate social responsibility is a significant behavior to promote the credit positively. This can definitely benefit the company, homeless people, and the community.

Homeless Population in the U.S.

In 2011, on a single night, there were 107,148 adults experiencing chronic homelessness in America; three-quarters were men with the average age approaching 50. Almost one-third of them were Veterans (People Experiencing Chronic Homelessness, 2012) “Due to the downturn of economics in the U.S., there are more and more homeless people.
