Lifespan Development

ABSTRACT

In this paper, I will tell you about a little girl who I observed at a campground playground. I will describe the demographics of where I observed the girl. I will also describe her physical, cognitive and social developments. I will then describe what she wore, how she behaved and how she reacted with other children who appeared around the same age. I will then conclude with how she compared with other children, and my take on how I viewed other children in the past.

OBSERVATION

The sun was still out and there were kids all around, but I focused and observed only one child. Around 4:00 P.M. on a Friday, I observed a child playing at the playground for about 35 minutes. I saw that she was around the age of 5. She was at least 45 pounds and about 40 inches tall. She had long brownish blonde hair, pale skin and blue eyes. She wore a pink top with a yellow flower on the front, and a pair of blue jean shorts with black sandals.

This child played well with the other children, she would share the sand toys, then she ran to the swing set to swing and then she would run to go down the slides. She seemed to not like one other child she did not even talk to this other child, but she stared at her from time to time giving her weird looks. She looked at the other children, but she went up to them and played, but not the one, she just stared at her. Eventually, I did see her go up to another little girl who was about the same age. I heard her ask the little girl if she would like to play on the swings. She did not appear afraid of confrontation with this other child.
