European Union

Introduction:

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 27 member states which are located primarily in Europe. Its capital is in fact Brussels. (Belgium) The official currency of the European Union is the euro used in all its documents and policies. The euro is also the most widely used currency in the EU, which is in use in 17 member states known as the Eurozone. United Kingdom, Denmark and Sweden are as an example 3 countries which aren’t in the Eurozone but are totally in the European Union. The European Union is a major tourist destination, attracting visitors from outside of the Union and citizens travelling inside it. All citizens of the European Union are able to travel in any European state without the need of a Visa.

France is the world's number one tourist destination for international visitors, followed by Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom at 2nd, 5th and 6th spots.

Advantages of European Union:

As I said in the introduction one of the main advantages of being European is that you can travel in any countries amongst European countries, as a Belgian citizen I can visit Holland, Spain, France, Italy, England, Greece, Etc… without the need of any visa. Another advantage between European countries is the trade market, there isn’t any import/export rules between the European Union.

Disadvantages of European Union:

Now of course European Union also got a lots of disadvantages, but it will take too much for me to explain them all, the main one is of course the Euro, Example Greece, Euro is a very bad currency for Greece, and not also for Greece, other richer countries like France and Germany needs to pay for. And then also the weak strategy on foreign policy keeps EU away from important players in international arena, like China, USA and etc.
