A. Shell has been instrumental in delivering energy to Nigeria since the 1960s. We pioneered
gas supply and distribution in Aba and over the last few years SPDC JV supplied over 70% of
domestic gas.
Shell delivered the 650MW Afam power station which currently supplies ~20% of Nigeria's
power generation. We will continue to work with the government and other stakeholders to
improve support to this sector which is critical to supporting Nigeria's economic
development. It is equally important that the government delivers the right commercial and
fiscal framework to enable more investment in this sector

A. Thanks for your question. Shell has been in Nigeria for more than 50 years and we see a long
term future in the country. Shell has always been a central player in the development of the
oil and gas industry in Nigeria, and we see huge potential for future growth and
development particularly in gas and offshore.
Q. What are the plans put in place by Shell Nigeria to protect shell personnel and contractors
presently working or that will work for Shell in the Niger Delta region from kidnappers?

A. The security of persons working in the Niger Delta and indeed the rest of Nigeria is
principally the role of government. The government also provides dedicated security to
protect personnel and facilities operated by the SPDC Joint Venture. These facilities are
