Endangered Forest

Have you ever wondered why you see trucks on the road with logs? It makes you question were the logs are going? Why are they cutting the logs? Where they are getting them from? It’s called deforestation. The logs are going to the lumber yard; therefore, are made into paper, syrup, and many others things. They are cutting the logs out of the forest. Deforestation is clearing Earth's forests on a massive scale, often resulting in damage to the quality of the land. There are many effects to deforestation, but the main ones are crime, environment, and economy.

The outrageous crime of deforestation is very tragic. Illegal logging is where you cut trees on someone elses property. “There are more than 105,000 miles of these roads, most made illegally by loggers to reach mahogany and other hardwoods for the lucrative export market “(Wallace 14). People were murder for standing up in what they believe in. For example, a nun named sister Dorothy Sang was murdered trying to save the forest. She was dedicated in what she also tried stopping the rancher that was clearing the land. Grileiros had a mock cemetery where they put crosses that symbolized people who had been threaten. They were red and white crosses. Out of the local people there were 48 that lives were threaten? There was 772 victims of land wars lives were threaten. Deforestation plays a big part in harming the environment. “When desiccation is worsened by global warming, serve droughts raise the specter of wildfires that could ravage the forest” (Wallace 13).
