Apple Genius

Email advertising, which is a direct marketing method by using email, has been used majorly to promote products and services nowadays in the business world. As time goes by, more and more companies use this as their marketing strategies, and people sign up with their emails for different companies in order to get gift sets; as a result, it becomes harder for a single email advertisement to stand out from the rest in a customer’s inbox. In order to electronically advertise successfully, it is extremely important that the ad design is able to catch readers’ attentions at the first sight and to attract readers’ further reading as well. One successful example is the Apple ad I received in my email. This is a one-page ad advertising a redesigned Apple Store in Stonestown, a shopping mall in San Francisco. The main purposes of this ad are advertising a better service that this new Apple Store is able to provide to customers and encouraging people to visit the physical store on its reopening day. Even though there are a few issues that Apple could solve to make this ad better, I insist that this ad is attractive and convincing due to the warm scenario in the picture, the unique title, and the professional layout.

The picture given in the middle of the advertisement is impressive, which captures readers’ first attention. First of all, the picture is located in the middle of the page, taking up one third of the page. With this size, readers can clearly see the scenario in the picture; additionally, because it includes the basic information about the advertisement, readers can easily understand what this ad is about just by looking at the picture. So, it is really smart to use a picture to attract readers’ attentions.
