John had been through many hardships in his life. From the beginning he had to deal with his mother being someone known for sleeping around. His mother made it impossible for him to be anything but a loner, he lived in isolation all throughout his life. He became accustomed to kids calling his mother mean names. John, overall, was a great person. Later on during his lifetime, he met Bernard and Lenina. These two people, mainly Bernard; made it possible for John to meet his father, also known as the director of the New World.

John had lived his whole life learning things from the savage reservation, when he showed up to the New World he wasn't sure how to act or react to certain things. Even when he was put in a tough situation he stood out from those among him and stood up for what he thought was right, this could be known as brave.

When John went to the New World he wanted everyone to be themselves, he didn't like the fact that everyone was wired to be a certain way, when he tried changing this he got in trouble. John realized after awhile that he enjoyed being alone; he actually preferred it. So, when John later got sent away, he enjoyed it. This led to the whipping he gave himself to cleanse his body of those feelings. John throughout the whole book was very brave and stood up for what he believed in.

The pressure put on him eventually was too much to bear and he hung himself. No one is sure what the final issue was that led him to do such an awful thing, but it happened. I'm sure that we can all agree John was a great person and we all loved him. John will forever be in our hearts and missed.
