Case Study #1

John Doe

1. “I am worried about these bumps on my nipples and why are my breasts so tender?” Be sure to include teaching points concerning hygiene, and teaching on the hormones that affect breast changes during pregnancy.”

* I would inform the client not to worry about the bumps on her nipples they are known as “sebaceous glands” which have become enlarged due to changes in her hormones to prepare the body for lactation. The hormones involved in breast changes include estrogen and proestrogen which are also the cause of many other changes that will take place in the body throughout pregnancy. Its also important to inform the patient that yeast infections can happen on the breast so be sure to wash them with warm water and open them to air.

* As the nurse I would reassure Linda that although she is at an increased risk for stretch marks due to the history of her mother, does not necessarily mean she will have...
