Critical reading is an effective way to complete the entire article task. From my own experience, I think critical reading is much more useful.

Reading the same text with two total different ways including critical reading and quick reading has different influences on me. First time, I read quickly without any note and I almost knew nothing about the text. Especially, I am a Chinese student and not very sensitive to English words even that I am not familiar with every word, so it is really tough for me to understand the meaning and focus on the text. However, I considered the second time was much better for me to understand. I read slower than the first time and highlighted the sentence which I thought was important. Also, the main questions were shown to me and I can read the part related to questions carefully and deeply. It was much easier to understand and remember. I can catch the key and remember some details unlike the first time even did not know the place of the detail in the article. After first quick reading, I may say “does this part appear in the article?”, if you ask me question. But during the second time critical reading, I can have another response “I know it”. Furthermore, note is the necessary section in critical reading. I summarized the key words beside the content; therefore, I can find it easily when I reviewed it.

Actually, I seldom use critical reading before in text because I thought it troubled me a lot and this type of reading is not covered a lot in China. But the truth was that I had forgotten something what the article said when I completed reading. It is so awful. Nevertheless, critical reading can solve this problem. I think and refine a lot during reading so I can remember it spontaneously.
