What does a dreamer mean? Dreamer is a person who has certain goals for life. Who are the New Nepalese? The youth of the country or say people ranging from 16yrs to about 30yrs of age. And finally, what are the New Nepalese’s dreams? Is it (say) for a boy, SLC, +2, bachelors, masters, job, marriage and settled?, and for a girl, SLC, knitting, being expert in household chores, marriage, do all the household chores in husband’s house, give birth to the babies and rear them? No, absolutely not.

Nepal is a developing country but still peoples’ thoughts are being broadened and modernized. Today’s youth no longer have the same old traditional dreams like the ones mentioned above. The New Nepalese Dreamers are setting out on a very different quest for self-realization. They are, in their plans for the future, separating identity from intimacy, saying that they must figure out who they are and that then, and only then, will they form a relationship with their partners.

Being a youth and a woman myself, I really don’t have any plans of getting married before I stand on my own feet. In my plans for the future, I see myself as a very successful person who is independent enough to make her own decisions, rich enough to pay for her living, capable enough to look after her parents, bold enough to raise her voice for anything that’s unfair and strong enough to stand out in the public to keep her own opinion.

I have many friends, both male and female, who share the same thoughts as I do. And I am really happy to see the changed and broaden minds of the people. We no more live in that era where marriage is the ultimate reason of all the educational achievement and good job we attained. Now, people gain education, get job only for themselves.
