“Children suffer with same-sex couples”, is the title of the article that Lynn-nore Chittom, and Geraldine Wager chose to discuss in their article. Such a bold topic should need some bold factual information proving their thesis. Did Chittom and Wagner deliver the information to persuade Americans that children of same-sex couples actually suffer, absolutely not. They state “Gay couples should be prohibited from adopting children due to evidence that suggests that children thrice in environments with both maternal and paternal influences” (Chittom, Wager, 2013).

This article presents the numerical amount of United States children in foster care, presenting their already vulnerable state to be increasingly diminished by potential same sex couple adoptive parents. The article continues to state statistics on those who are opposed to same-sex adoptions vs. the opposing, thus showing a noticeable acceptance in those including ages 18-29, per more current data. They then discuss, several biblical passages stating a man and woman are the ones who conceive a child, using this as factual data. They also cite onion based data regarding psychological status of what they assume same-sex vs. opposite sex couples children tend to have, along with a sociologists opinion regarding the suicidal tendency related to same sex vs. opposite sex parents are, and a simple one statement from an Family Research Counsels opinion stating that same sex children are guinea pigs.

Unfortunately, the facts provided in this article are primarily based on opinion. Yes, the polled research provided are potentially considered “statistical factual” information, but is pulled based upon opinion. The only concise, legitimate facts provided are the overwhelming amount of youths in the adoptive system. The other legitimate facts provided are based on religious views.
