I found ‘it’ in the park on a Sunday morning...

Sat in a tatty leather sofa in the middle of the living room; the once flamboyant and bright paisley print wallpaper blurred into red spots dancing in front of my eyes. There was nothing much to do today. My stomach growled and it was then I remembered that I had not eaten any breakfast. I idly made my way into the kitchen, asking myself: why is there so much distance between the living room and the kitchen?

My heart pounded as my cup of hot milk spilt onto the table. The spilt milk formed the letters: A...L...I...E...N. My psychic powers told me something was wrong. The futuristic powers followed me everywhere I went. It was as if nature was warning me. Leaves of plants dried up as I got near, cats started scowling and people started screaming as I walked across the road.

Antagonized, I ran to the one and only place where I was comfortable – the park. Right now you will be imagining a park with acres of concrete interspersed with neat grass verges. With beautiful bandstands, ornamental trees and flowers all year round. But this ‘park’ was just a field full of overgrown grass and weeds. Moss covered the abandoned swings and climbing frame. All that was left of the park were a few wooden benches. As I sat down onto the bench, I heard an eerie scream. Cautiously, I took a few steps forward. The noise was coming from behind the long rain- beaded blades of grass. Suddenly something glistened and persuaded me to take a step further and investigate. I felt tensed as I trampled through the thicket and muddy grass.

An awkward creature’s enormous eyes glared at me almost as if waiting for an answer. It emerged out of the darkness into the bright beams of the sun. I stood there staring at its contorted face. Frozen to the spot...
