The three forms of technical communication that I chose were the three that I was most familiar with. The first one is email. In my opinion email is the most important form of communication in a corporate environment because it is the mostly commonly used. No matter what you position is in a corporate atmosphere this is one form of communication you cannot get around. That is why it is very important that you take into consideration not only what you write but who you are writing to so that your communication is effective and carries out whatever purpose you intend for it to. The next form for me was report. My current position requires that I keep others informed of certain issues with our mainframe system. Because of this I have to send out daily reports with inventory, ongoing issues etc. But, most of the people that I am communicating with are not familiar with the lingo that is used or even know most of the time what a particular report status may mean. So, it is my job as the writing to not only prepare the reports for an audience that is computer savvy but also to communicate this report in laymen’s terms so the most inexperienced person can understand. And you have to do this without not only boring the ones that are familiar but also without insulting those that are not. My last form of communication is technical descriptions, which tie in to the reports because it is the technical descriptions that allow me to communicate these specific reports so that they can be understood by the entire audience.
