Personal Learning Paper 2

My experiences of life, which I could relate to the classroom discussions, are written below.

There were various theories learned in the class, through detailed and interactive discussions. There were a lot of instances, where I could quickly relate to my experiences.

I would like to begin with a quote – “When you want to succeed as much as you want to breathe, that’s when you will be successful.”

While studying the Maslow’s Hierarchal Theory, I could make out that the pyramidal structure made complete sense to me and I have at many times in life felt exactly the same. My expectation from my job after graduation was the basic need as mentioned my Maslow in the beautiful theory – Physiological Needs. My expectations were a clean, fresh, Air Conditioned environment at my work place. I wished to have personal desk and a handsome salary with which I can cater to my other daily expenses. These were the things which I got there and these factors really motivated me for performing better and for being sincere and smart at work. These are the basic needs of an individual which if not fulfilled; the employee may feel low and deserted. These requirements shall be kept at the most important priority. Maslow talks about the second need as the Safety Need. The sense that I’m sitting in a guarded campus, where there is no threat to my life; a shuttle service for commutation and my medical coverage with a Fortis doctor always available in the office premise; the life insurance coverage were a few factors that made me comfortable and in a sense motivated me for performing better. As the time passed and I started working in a project with a team, that team slowly became a part of my life. Apart from work, we used to celebrate together. The team not only used to share their professional achievements but also other happiness news.
