1) Define the term health, and outline what holistic health is Health is the process of achieving an overall balance in all aspects of life. The term holistic refers to achieving a sense of empowerment and control with your health, so basically we are all trying to find a sense of holistic health.

2) Describe what life expectancy is Life expectancy is the average number of years remaining in a person’s life at any specific age. At present, the Japanese have the highest life expectancy in the world.

3) Outline the positives and negatives of Australians living in rural and remote areas The positives of Australian living in remote areas are that 1) They have a unique and enjoyable lifestyle and 2) They have a close community connection. The negatives are that 1) They tend to have higher levels of disease than those in major cities 2) Have less access to health services and staff 3) They have lower levels of income, and higher unemployment and 4) Tend to have more hazardous roads.

4) Outline the socio-demographic gradient effect The socio-demographic gradient effect is basically an effect where the more well off a person is, the more access they have to health care, education and employment. The more disadvantaged you are, the more you are prone to developing the negative aspects of society.

5) What are some of the positives and negatives for young Australians Some of the positives of young Australians include 1) Large declines in death rates, 2) More young people using contraception and 3) Increased survivals of cancer. The negatives include 1) Rising rates in diabetes, 2) Higher rates of STI’s and 3) Not eating enough fruits and vegetables.
