The main social issue facing child labor is the safety and health of the child that is working. Every child deserves to be safe and healthy and by working in these poor conditions for long hours like they do it is jeopardizing their health and safety. Some of these children are working around dangerous machines and hot conditions that are not safe for children to be around. In order to access these machines to do their job they have to use unstable things to climb on and are also surrounded by share objects that they could do permanent damage to their bodies with or may even potentially die.

The second problem these children are facing is they are working to help provide income for their poor families. Most of these children are working to help put a roof over their head or food on the table and if they did not have this job they could not afford to eat and may starve to death or have to live on the streets. Without these jobs it could lead to a child finding a lesser paying job or even may result in prostitution.

The two basic social issues surrounding child labor are poverty, health and safety. If child labor did not exist then worse things could happen to these children but it is also not fair to these kids to have to work the long, tiring hours in poor conditions that these factories provide. http://www.globalissues.org/article/62/child-labor
