Parenting in India

A child gives birth to a mother!! Sounds odd but so true as it symbolizes the

journey of a woman from a daughter or wife to a mother. However looking at

the current times where fathers are getting more and more involved in the

children’s’ lives it would be more appropriate to say that a child gives birth to

a parent. This is the most trying and treasured journey a person undertakes

in which a find it all sort of guide would be a blessing every parent wishes for.

Parenting is exciting and full of exploration and learning. However as we say

every child is different so is parenting as a lot of it is defined by the family,

beliefs, culture, demographics and various other factor. Each parent aspires to

make their child the perfect kid whether it is in studies, sports, arts discipline

or any other aspect of the child’s life. There is no dearth of information on

parenting whether in books, magazines or online. One search on google gives

one an endless list of articles and other reference materials on the subject and

with the increased number of educated parents the people interested in

knowing the best way to raise their child has increased manifold.

These articles vary from hygiene and cleanliness to positive parenting,

immunity, health and the list goes on…So, have we found the perfect guide as

per which, to raise our child. Well I guess that’s a difficult question to answer.

Though the information is insightful and can provide a fair ideas of dos and

don’ts there is no formula that fits all. So again the question is how do, we go

about it to ensure that we raise perfect children. This brings us to another

interesting question, What is perfect? Well that is another discussion for

another day. The point here is we as parents need to understand that like each

child is different we need to deal with them differently. We have to

experiment with our children and try find the best way to work with them and
