The Image of God

No matter the lifestyle, skin color, language, or culture someone has, they are made in the image of God. This is a belief every Christian should carry in everything that they do including their chosen vocation. Sin has invaded this world and has distorted the image of God in all of humanity. It is up to the Christian to assist God as an ambassador of Christ to help restore man back to full communion with him (2 Cor. 5:20.) It is important that I accomplish this mission in my personal life through my chosen field of motion picture production.

Today, there are many films being produced that carry the characteristics of God’s image. “Humanity by creation uniquely bears the image of God” (Elwell, 2001). However, the unfortunate thing about that is that even though something may look morally correct, without knowing Christ, these stories are but a brief experience of the true character of God. People can enjoy the spirit of God through mankind, but not inherit salvation. “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father except through me” (John 14:6). This is why it is important to understand the image of God through Christ Jesus.

Additionally, it is important that I carry God’s image because of the deception of sin that exists in the world. “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Cor. 4:4). I hope that through my chosen vocation I can produce films that express the characteristics of Christ, not only characteristics of God’s image. This is especially important because without Christ, people do not see the whole truth of God and can be deceived in their thinking.

In today’s society, motion picture films are infested with immorality, but with God’s guidance in carrying his image, I hope to make a major influence. One of the characteristics...
