Entry 2: Technology to Enhance Instruction

Integrating Instructional Technology

Integrating instructional technology is extremely important for many different reasons. One of the most important being that it helps to teach children about technology outside of school. Integrating technology into classrooms require time, training, and patience. Not all students are going to know how to use these new devices. These students will lead us into a new age, but for us to do that we are required to give them a chance to communicate, learn, and explore the world that in now available to them with the tap of a finger. Integrating technology is a great new way for children to learn and for our children to thrive and live.

Laptops:

Laptops in the classroom give students a chance to research and to look up anything they may be confused about. Laptops also give students a chance to get ahead start on homework. When a teacher assigns an essay it is required that the student wait till they get home so they can do their research, but if a student has finished the in-class assignment they can now start on essay’s and/or assignments for other classes. Of course internet safety has be taught and enforced, but instead of student disrupting other students who are still working they can work ahead and play educational games.

Projector:

Students often have a hard time understanding the writing of teachers. When writing on a board it is hard to keep all your letters and lines looking the same enough for students to follow and write. It is very hard to get through a lesson when people are constantly asking what something says. Having a laptop in the class the teacher is able to type out the notes before hand and then resize and change the font of the words so that the students can better see them. Also the teacher can show a presentation which can include sound and videos to better help the students...
