Essay Questions

Please answer all of the following questions (20 points each.) I expect a 200 - 300 word response for each of the five categories. (Use word count, under tools on MSWord to give yourself an idea of length.) In evaluating your responses, I am looking for indications that you have read the assignments and can apply the ideas to real situations. You may refer to your notes, textbook, journal and any other written source. If you use someone else’s words, you must indicate this with quotation marks and cite the source. If you discuss someone else’s ideas, you must cite the source. Use quotes sparingly; I am interested in YOUR ideas. You may discuss the questions with your teammates; however, your responses should be your own work. Typed answers are required. Use this document as a template, answering each part below the stated question paragraph.

1. TIDEE design process: Discuss your service learning project in terms of the TIDEE design process. Give specific examples of activities that illustrate each step (the 5 corners of the star). Do you believe that all steps were given adequate attention? How did this attention (or lack thereof) affect the outcome of your project?

During this project, we were able to spend more time developing the problem definition portion of the design process then previously. As a group we had to get creative in setting up how we wanted to define our problem. We took field trips to visit places that Ken had mentioned and really focused our attention on one part of the building, instead of the whole building. We were able to set up meetings with Ken and do a couple of site visits in order to gain a better understanding and feel for the building, not just from an engineering standpoint, but really as a guest of TACID and how...
