The learning style inventory was a very useful tool in showing me the ways that I learned and take on new information the best. I found the exercises to be very interesting in that they gave me insight on how not everyone takes in new ideas and there is no wrong way for people to learn. It has been almost twenty years since I was last actively involved in college courses, but I can see that I still enjoy hands on learning. After doing the learning style graph I can visually see that my learning style and my current job as an area manager/production specialist in a tire factor are the same. My job requires me to get results on a nightly basis by being on the floor and engaging with my fellow coworkers to achieve high production goals in a safe manner. By doing and thinking about each task I do and getting my employees to follow my lead, we not only achieve our production goals, but also other managers realize that they must also be doers and not just sit in the office all day. Something the learning style graph showed me was that I need to be more open to new ideas and not just learn by muscle management. I need to be able to ask fellow students, as well as my instructors on how they learn. I need to know why it is important for me to learn about different topics in ways that I haven’t thought about before. Once my degree course work begins I will become more active with my instructors on finding out why I need to develop the skills I need to become a more complete student. I will need to be able take in more information on subjects that I don’t know as much about and apply that information to my course work. Monitoring my time is going to be the biggest challenge in my pursuit of a college degree. I am a very hard working person with most of my life is centered around my current job. Let’s face it, everyone has to be able to put food on the table, roof over our heads, and pay the basic everyday bills. I have been at my current job for almost sixteen years...
