Useful information for case study

1. General information

Please find here some useful information for you to prepare for case study presentation and the written report that needs to be hand it in before the case presentations.

Case study will weight 15% out of your final grade with an equal distribution of mark between the written report piece and presentation piece.

All the written reports for all groups should be handed in before or the latest on March 30th for Wednesday class, beginning of the class and March 31st for Thursday class, beginning of the class. Late submissions will have a penalty of 30% off your grade for the first day late and 10% each after that till your marks will get to zero.

Case presentation will be scheduled for two weeks on March 30th and April 6th for Wednesday class and March 31st and April 7th for Thursday class. Groups to present will be chosen randomly.

Case study objectives:

1. Identify a problem/ issue/ decision or opportunity

2. Analyze a problem or issue

3. Develop decision criteria

4. Develop and evaluate alternatives

5. Generate an action and implementation plan

Generic Analytical Questions:

What is the issue?

What position are we supposed to hold?

Why did this issue arise?

By when does it have to be resolved?

What is (are) the immediate issue(s)?

What is (are) the basic issue (s)?

How important is this issue?

How urgent is this issue?

What is your analysis?

What alternatives do you suggest?

What are your decision criteria?

What is the best alternative?

What outcome do you predict?

What is your action/implementation plan?
