Is it Unhealthy for the World?

Some people believe video games cause nothing but problems in our everyday lives. Some people believe that video games can only help us in our everyday lives. Then there are those who actually play them for what they are meant for, entertainment. But what does science say about how video games affect us in our everyday lives? Science really doesn’t have a clear answer so we will cover both sides. On the bad side of video games we have Addiction, aggression, depression and other anti-social behaviors. But at the opposite end of the spectrum we have something entertaining, stress relieving, educational and helpful in the training of decision making.

Let’s begin with, the how video games can help improve your decision making. The cognitive scientists at Rochester University have discovered that people who play action video games can make the right decision quicker than people who don’t and they are no less accurate than the people who take longer to make their decision. The reason for this is the fact that action video game player develop a heightened sensitivity to what is going on in their environment. Allowing them to not only improve at the game but improve at everyday activities like driving and multitasking. For this next one, we will look at a negative effect of video games on our everyday lives. There was a comprehensive review of every experimental study done by a psychologist at Ohio State University named Brad Bushman. Which reviewed three hundred eighty-one effects form studies involving 130,000 people, and it found that the results showed that playing violent video games increases aggressive thoughts, angry feelings, and physiological arousal.
