Effects of Bullying in Schools

Every year, thousands of children and teenagers are victims of school bullying. While there are laws and school rules in place to help stop bullying, it never really stops. It is believed that children who bully others were abused by their parents, and in return they think it is okay to do it to others, or they are trying to take their anger out on other kids. Being bullied can leave a child or teenager with lasting effects such as depression, anger, and extremely low self-confidence.

When people hear the word "bullying", they usually think of kids getting beat up, stuffed into lockers, or getting their lunch money taken. This is not really what bullying means anymore. Nowadays, bullying is most often happening in the form of words and name calling. How would it feel to be a young child that is overweight? There would likely be people making fun of him or her about their weight. Growing up like that can leave a wound on the brain. Later in life, they are likely to suffer from depression. They will always feel like they're never good enough for anyone. Later in life, all these problems with depression can lead to suicide. The biggest reason that teenagers and young adults commit suicide is that they were bullied their whole life.

After being bullied all through school, a child will most likely keep all their feelings bottled up because they feel like no one cares. They will usually become very angry. They won’t talk to anyone about what they’ve been going through because they are either scared, or they are too angry to talk to anyone and they just don’t care. After many years, holding so much anger in can be a very dangerous thing. Many people that grow up to be murderers were probably bullied as kids, and they probably never let go of the pain they experienced all those years.

When children are constantly told bad things about themselves, they will never really know how to love themselves. Bullied children...
