Using Strengths to Increase Motivation

According to Kinicki and Fugate (2016), “Motivation refers to the psychological process that underlies the direction, intensity, and persistence of behavior or thought.” How do you know where your level of motivation, intensity, or self-drive is without assessing your abilities? In this paper, I took part in a self-assessment 7.3: What is my Level of Psycap? I will share those results and give you my thoughts and tell how I can increase motivation using strengths, using goal setting to increase motivation, and job performance, as a result of my findings on the assessment. I will also explain how my involvement as an employee and job influence job performance. The paper will also discuss five theories and how they can improve job performance.

Assessment Results

Self-Assessment 7:3 tests four characteristics: hope, efficacy, resilience, and optimism. Hope is preserving towards goals and when necessary, redirecting paths to goals to succeed. (Kinicki & Fugate, 2016,). Efficacy is defined as having the confidence to put more enough effort to achieve challenging tasks. (Kinicki & Fugate, 2016,). Resilience can weather adversity and overcome them to become successful. According to Kinicki and Fugate (2016), optimism is making a positive attribution about succeeding now and in the future”. The assessment results show that I scored eighteen points on efficacy and sixteen points on resiliency. I completely agree with the results and believe they reflect the type of work attitude I provide a company. Strategies to Increase my Career Using my Strengths

What are some strategies that will help influence my career and build on the strength of the results of Self-Assessment 7:3. One strategy would be to become more confident when speaking in groups or to my supervisor.
