Hormone Replacement Therapy is a topic followed closely in my family. A few years ago, my wife had to have a hysterectomy done. That basically put her into what is called medical menopause. Of course right away they put her on Premarin, a synthetic made from… well we don’t need to get into that. Shortly after the procedure we found out that she could no longer take the Premarin because she was diagnosed with a blood condition. This condition is putting enough strain on her life so the hormone pill was stopped. Since the synthetic treatment was harming her, we started looking into other forms of hormone replacement. While there are many drug treatments out there, most of them were processed through the liver or wouldn’t work for her for other reasons. Finally we stumbled upon a holistic approach. Bioidentical Hormone Treatments to be exact. Thus started our venture to see if this type of treatment would be compatible with her body. Was it safe or not? We were well pleased with our findings! Bioidentical hormones offer a safe and viable alternative for those who need to undergo Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Hormone Replacement Therapy or HRT, is a treatment mainly designed for women who have reached or passed menopause. This also includes women of varying ages who have had a hysterectomy. HRT is accomplished through the administering of small doses of one or two female hormones. These hormones are called Estrogen and Progestin. HRT is designed to replace the Estrogen that is no longer being produced by the body.

BHRT, which stands for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, uses hormones that are identical in chemical structure to the hormones that the human body produces. This means that the human body recognizes these more completely than it does synthetic hormones. These hormones most commonly are extracted from one of two wild plants.
