Buddhist Religion

Buddhist religion began many years ago and continues in today's society. From the beginning in India to all across the world. The religion is based on a caste free system unlike other religions of this time. The Buddhist religion somewhat differs from the religion of Christianity. The followers are open to talk about the religion to others. The individuals of this faith like others wish to continue passing on the teachings of Buddha.

Buddhist Religion

Buddhism begins with the life of Gautama Buddha in India. There is not much information available on the actual life of Buddha. He was born into a family of wealth and prestige. His father sheltered him from the suffering, and depair of life, many believe this is why he ventured out on his own. To find the reality of life for himself. It is believed that many of the teachings of Buddha were not written down until many years after his death. "King Asoka began spreading the religion outside of India in 300 BCE (Unknown, 2004)." This would continue throughout even today. "In 2000,one hundred and thirty five nuns were fully ordained into the ministry in twenty -three countries (Unknown, 2004)." The first teaching of Buddha was the earthly suffering and how that using the teachings of Buddha, earthly suffering could be cured. Reincarnation is the main belief of Buddhism. The idea that one dies, and is reborn over, and over again, until one finds enlightenment, and attains Nirvana. This religion is still alive and thriving in today's society. While like other religions there are different sects and divisions of the religion, the basic beliefs and teachings of Buddha still to this day ring true for believers.
