Important Influences

A very important influence in my life would have to be music. Every since I was little listening to music would always help me feel better. No matter how bad of a mood I was in, music could always make it a little better. To me music helps people express their feelings better than they could through words. Every genre of music has some type of soul to it that people can relate to. Rather they are sad songs, love songs, or even just songs about going out and having a good time they can affect someone’s mood or feelings.

Another important thing that has influenced me today was when I was kicked out of school in eleventh grade. Even though I was one of those students that never made much attention or cared too much about school, once I no longer had it I missed it. I realized all the high school opportunities I would be missing out on. All the memories I could have made but never got the chance to. I really wish I could have gone to prom and done all the other things my friends talked about. The day that really got to me was graduation. I watched as all my friends graduated and I have to admit I was a little sad. I listened as the valedictorian talked about memories and everything they had learned and been through and I felt lousy that I missed it. It made me realize I should have taken school a lot more seriously. That’s why I’m choosing to start school now, so I can make something better out of myself. I don’t want to miss out on any other opportunities life might have to offer.
