Abstract

The entity of this paper is the evaluation and critique of a case study. Stan Williams an employee at a community college is tasked with convincing his supervisor that training sessions for institution employees would be beneficial. However His supervisor thinks that training is a waste of time and does not support Williams' thoughts and feelings on the benefits of training. Therefore this paper will explain the situation, the problem, and some strategies Williams should adapt to encourage his supervisor to accept the trainings.

Introduction

Adult Education and Training is a field of study which emphasizes acquiring new knowledge is a benefit to adults and that learning is a lifelong process. Educational institutions have a need to teach students within their community but they also have a need to develop their staff to ensure they are receiving the appropriate information to teach their students. Trainings are a benefit to the individual staff member but also the institution as a whole. Since educators are often promoters of lifelong learning they should encourage and promote formal and informal training and education within their institution, this includes developmental training for employees. The purpose of this case study will explain significance offering training opportunities to college staff and how it can benefit the institution.

Summary

Stan Williams works as the assistant to the director of the Instructional Services Center at Lattimore Community College. Mr. Williams wants to convince the Director Joseph Davis that the staff would benefit from participating in staff develop programs which are offered at the school.
