Colossus computer

The colossus computers or termed as the colossus machines were the electronic devices that became used in tasks of computing by code breakers who were from Britain. This aided in helping one to read encrypted messages that had a German origin, and this was during the World War 2. The use of vacuum tubes was rampant in performing various numerous calculations. These vacuum tubes also went by the name of thermionic valves. Colossus became designed by the engineer Flowers Tommy in cooperation with other renowned scientists and computer experts so as to help in solving the issue or task posed by Max Newman who was a mathematician. The initial specimen, Colossus Mark 1, became proved to be working on the date of 1st June, the year of 1944 (Copeland 21).

These computers became used to aid in decoding messages that based their origin from teleprinter that became encrypted using the Lorenz equipment. Code breakers from Britain referred to the encrypted teleprinter from German as fish and named it names. Colossus did make a comparison to two certain streams of data, taking every match basing it on a Boolean function that is hence programmable. The message that became encrypted did become read from an item called a paper tape. The second stream became generated within, and it involved the Lorenz equipment at the chosen trial settings. If the count of their match for a certain chosen setting was above some specific threshold, it will hence be transferred in another form (Cragon 14).

They became used to determine the various key trials for the Lorenz equipments as compared to just decoding message that can be intercepted in its whole.
