STRESS

Stress is physiologic. It is a part of human nature and inevitable especially when we are in situations we perceived as dangerous or something that we are not uncomfortable with. We respond differently in these situations, and sometimes, for unlucky individuals, who cannot handle stress well, there is some sort of abnormal physiological changes in them.

For me, individuals should prepare themselves to face stress. In our everyday lives, we cannot escape it for it will always accompany the situations that we are in. We should strengthen our coping skills, so that we will avoid some sort of a major physiological and psychological problem in the future. We should always think positive. It is not wrong to be an optimist, right? But then, try to weigh in different possibilities like for example, listing the negative and positive effects of your actions in some stressful situations. Or we can sometimes use denial and wishful thinking. But it will always depend on us which way will our escape plan.

In a normal student life, it’s kind of strange if we don’t experience stress. It will always be there especially during exams. In these, we can have situations full of “What if’s”- what if I fail? What if I will forget what I studied? What if--?. This will always result to stress. There are many strategies we can think to cope with this. We can always have a study plan, or probably have a group study if studying alone is so boring. We should try to relax. In this way, we can think clearly.

Well, stress is definitely one of the humps while we are wandering in the road of life. Even before we are born, this world is already stressful. To name some, we have climate change, disasters, politics, etc. But what can we do? We are just human beings. We are not perfect. But stress, (even if others will not agree with me) is one of life’s spices that help balance its negative and positive sides.
