Abstract
The following paper attempts to describe the German culture. The geographic location, history, and stereotypes of common Germans are describe in the first part of the paper. The second part takes a look at the culture through Hofstede and Hall’s perspectives. The language, both verbal and nonverbal, is discussed followed by the educational system. The economy and relationship between Germany and the United States is talked about, followed by the different religions, holidays, observances, and foods of the German peoples.
German Culture
Who people are, what they act like, where they are located, when they made their way there, and why they are who they are outline just some of the aspects that create “culture.” Cultures have many different quirks that make each one unique. German culture can be examined by looking at the aforementioned aspects and by going into even more detail. Through Germany’s history, location, stereotypes, Hofstede’s values, Hall’s high and low context model, communication, education, economy, foreign relations, religion, holidays, and foods a very detailed picture can be painted about Germany’s culture.
German History and Location
Elegant big-city charm, small picture-postcard towns, pagan-inspired harvest festivals, a wealth of art and culture and the perennial pleasures of huge tracts of forest, delightful castles and fine wine and beer are all things that the country of Germany is known for. Germany, officially the Federal Republic of Germany, is a federal parliamentary republic in Europe. The country consists of 16 states while the capital and largest city is Berlin.
