14. The privacy controls on websites like Facebook are reasonable and adequate for the average citizen of the digital world.

DISAGREE

The website was initially created to serve as a site where after the individual has registered, using personal information such as your full name, age, like/interests and your very own address, the user may “add” other people all around the world as friends where they can share information such as photos, converse with friends from the past and become immersed in group sharing games. But over the past few years, Facebook has been in hot water in relation to its privacy issues. Many newspaper companies all around the world have reported that Facebook has been sharing user’s personal data with advertisers, but to make the matter worse, the information is being shared without the user’s knowledge or consent.

Facebook, the globally known social networking service that as of February 2012 has engulfed more than 845 million active people around the world today and with a growing population of almost 7 billion people, more and more people are starting to get on the band wagon and join the latest social fad. My name is Andrew, and today I am here to talk about how I disagree on the statement that the privacy controls on websites like Facebook are reasonable and adequate for the average citizen of the digital world. To people who are not known or fond of this social networking website, Facebook was created in 2004 which was founded by four owners; Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.

Many people all around the world are worried about where and how their information is shared and viewed but the user must always think about who they give they’re information to and how they limit that to the world. But seriously, who thinks things like that when your 13-14 and putting all your personal information into a website that you barely know anything about.
