CISCO Safe architecture prevents most attacks from successfully affecting valuable network resources. SAFE take a defense in depth approach in which multiple layers of protection are strategically located throughout the network. The modules allow the security to analyzed by a case by case basis. The modules that afford an organization the foremost protection in evolving technologies and media include the internet edge, e-commerce, extranet, teleworker and the branch module. .

CISCO SAFE architecture not a revolutionary way of designing networks, but merely a blueprint for making networks secure. The blueprint is a document that simply proves the security practices that provide the design guidelines for building secure and reliable network infrastructure. When a company chooses to use this architecture by itself, it can have various limitations associated with it. The Implemented architecture should be use in conjunction with a security plan that illustrates how an organization is plans to meet its security requirements. The guidelines that are prescribed are just that at a minimum Achieve reasonable security by establishing a good security policy, following the guidelines in this document staying up to date on the latest developments in the hacker and security communities, and maintain and montitoring all system with sound system administration practices. This includes awareness of application security issues
