Abstract

This week Team C discussed how to determine selection criteria and compared recruitment startergies. Each team member reflected their strengths and weakness in this week’s objectives. Then applied how this week’s objective related directly to team member’s field of work.

Selecting an individual for a vacancy should be a very structured process. Guidelines, policies and procedures followed to ensure that the organization is compliant with employment laws. This prevents discriminatory lawsuits, and disgruntled employees that overlooked. The selection criteria major focus areas; understanding the job task(s), a person’s qualification(s), experience, reference checks, behavioral characteristics (during the interview) and the possibility of upward movement (management potential) within the company.

Developing recruitment strategies is a very difficult task. In order to be successful, the organization must be able to forecast future needs. Along with forecasting, technology, acquisitions, and the global economy also drive the recruitment process. There is no specific answer to which process is the best, it is very objective, based on an organizations vision, cost, experience, and the major impact is the availability of the labor market pool.

Application to current field

The internal process applies directly to my organization in regards to filling vacancies for contract positions. Due to specific requirements associated with contracted positions within my organization, employment prospects normally identified through employee referrals at the entry level. The government process structured with very strict guidelines during the initial application and prescreening process.
