Cuyler Manor Museum |

  |   | The Cuyler Manor Museum in Uitenhage was built as a homestead for General Jacob Glen Cuyler, who was the Landdrost of Uitenhage from 1806 to 1827. Recent years have seen the Cape Dutch Style house been lovingly restored to its former glory, and furnished in the style of its period. Visitors who enter the old building experience a feeling of having travelled through time, back to the colonial era.

Recently added to the Cuyler Manor, which constitutes a third of the Uitenhage museum along with the Drostdy Museum and Old Railway Station Museum , is the farm section which provides interesting insights into the world of Angora goats, spinning, weaving, herb gardens, farm animals and an old mill house. Also included at the Cuyler Manor are a number of demonstrations of traditional methods which include old style soap and candle making depicting the early lifestyle of the people of the Eastern Province.

The Cuyler Manor Museum is open from Monday to Friday 10h00 to 13h00 and 14h00 to 16h30, and an entrance fee of R5,00 per person is payable. For more information call (041) 992 2063, or send an e-mail to mailto:uitenhageuseum@intekom.co.za Nearby Towns:
