This paper will review the health care systems within the United States, define health care systems, and will include various implications of beliefs and values placed on the health care system. Within the following paragraphs examples of various models of health care delivery systems that are practiced within the United States and how the health care delivery system applies the stated models of health care delivery within the United States.

There are many types of healthcare systems available that provide individuals with treatments for various illnesses and diseases. When defining healthcare systems, Byrnes (2009) states that, “healthcare systems are institutions or organizations that provide healthcare treatments, which include equipment, residential, care, and other facilities that assist in treating a patient. These facilities provide different types of benefits and implement different treatments for various health care issues.”

Individuals believe that as residents of the United States, we are the lucky ones with health care delivery to die for, no pun intended. As health care consumers say, the service is not all that we expected it to be and it has its many shortcomings. The United States health care delivery system is deemed the most expensive. Reasons for higher health care delivery costs are the ever rising costs of technology, pharmaceuticals, and administration. Another reason for the rising costs of health care is uninsured individuals that cannot afford preventative care. The unfortunate individuals who have no insurance cannot visit the doctor as many times as individuals with coverage, which in the long run can wind up costing more than expected. When an uninsured individual waits until they are at the point of extreme illness, the costs are unexpected and high, especially if the untreated illness turns into something more serious.
