Scholarship Paper and Biography

I believe I deserve to win this scholarship because I have the determination and desire to succeed more than anyone you have probably ever met. My goal is to show two sweet little angels that if you work hard enough anything is possible and that there really are good people in this world. These children came from child protective services and have seen so much bad and negative things in this world already that when I got custody of them I promised that I would show them that they could trust again and that I would show them that the whole world is not as bad as what they have seen. I will protect them and show them a different way of life free from drugs and abuse.

My academic and career goals are to get my associates degree in hospital administration and secure a career in that field, so that I can support my family with a job that I can do despite my disabilities. I still very much desire to be a functioning member of society to keep my promise to them.

My 10 year old foster child is the one I owe credit to for giving me the courage to pursue this new section of my life .One day she was in my room and she seen my nursing uniforms hanging in my closet and she asked me who did they belong to, I explained they were mine and that I had went to school to become a nurse assistant. A few days later she came to me and said momma I want you to get a job at my school as our nurse. She was having problems in school so I made a deal (oh yes a deal). I told her that if she went to school the next year and made all a's and B's that I would go back to school and get a degree maybe not as a RN but that I would do it. She held up her little pinky and said pinky promise momma and I told her sure "pinky promise". Well here I am one pinky promise later and I figure if one little girl that has been through the unspeakable things that this child has been through could do this for me I could get off my rear end and prove to her she can be and do anything she wishes to do in...
