Behavior Disorders in Adolescents

Abstract

The most common behavioral disorders in adolescents are Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) previously knows as Attention deficit disorder (ADD), Conduct disorder (CD) and Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). In my research, I have found that there is no evidence for the causes of the disorders but many speculations to some consistent factors that seem to be common in the child home and life style. The common traits for each are linked to each other such as the irritability, depression or mood disorder, defying authority to overly active in the daily routines of life. Also the treatments in general for each diagnosis’s are similar; you have all or some: medicine, counseling and sometimes behavioral management therapy. Don’t mistake the similarities for each of the behavioral disorders; each one has its own issues that can cause a long term impacting condition that effects child’s adulthood in every aspect from family, work, school and social.

Medical field and technology have rapidly been growing for many years now. With this said many new and uncommon diagnoses have arisen. Some of the popular ones are behavior disorder in adolescents such as: Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) previously knows as Attention deficit disorder (ADD), Conduct disorder (CD) and Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). CD and ODD behaviors can be linked to other diagnosis such as children with ADHD. A child with ADHD has about a 35 percent chance of developing CD, ODD or some other behavioral disorder. Could the rise in these diagnoses be because of our diets, chemicals in food, the air we breathe or just simply our living style? Could the rise be because of our rapidly growing technology that has increased our media and the awareness of new and findings? There are many speculations that I have read in my research and none of them could accurately account for the increase. I feel personally it is a...
