From Anti-Communism to Anti-Terrorism

Throughout the History of the United States of America there has always been a radical country or group threatening the American way of life. People where or are either afraid of, intimidated by or feel threaten of the idea that their lives are at risk. Starting in the 1940s and up through 1980s America was concerned with stopping the spread of Communism during the Cold War that came to an end when Russia collapsed and now; after the attacks of September eleventh the new threat is Terrorism.

Most American’s never thought about Terrorism until September eleventh two thousand and one, when on that day American people woke up under attack from a radical group of people out to terrorize and kill them. Not that Terrorism was not around; radical groups have been terrorizing people throughout the world for a very long time. For instance when looking back on Hitler; most people affiliate him with the Country of Germany, this is true however the definition of a terrorist is a person who terrorizes or frightens others; this is what Hitler was doing during his dictatorship; there for he too could have been called a Terrorist.

As for American citizens it just never made its way to main land of the United States until it was attacked. Since that day Terrorism has been at the forefront of the United States Government and its people. After the attacks President Bush addressed the Country and said; “Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices: secretaries, business men and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror”. (Bush, 2001). The American people’s lives changed at that moment in time, not only do we need to...
